Chairman, Colin Bellett

Colin is a retired Housing Manager who also spent a busy time as a semi-professional musician playing percussion in groups, function bands, brass bands and wind bands.  He joined the local Military Band in the Territorial Army and spent over 43 years in service and was for many years the Band Sgt/Major before he retired.

Secretary, Maili Konczak

Maili has played flute in a Concert Band since second year of high school and has played in various bands around Edinburgh since moving here in 2000. She loves the experience of playing with others & the community & friendship that comes with it.

Quartermaster, Dan

Dan has played with various musical groups over the years and enjoys performing again with such an engaged community organization. He has taken up the role of quartermaster and looks forward to an ongoing presence with the band’s membership as a volunteer and musician.

Band Representative,

Will Robertson

Will
Will played trombone in school and county wind orchestras and big bands, before a ten-year break from the instrument which ended when he moved to Edinburgh and joined the CCB. As well as the trombone, Will attempts to play the guitar, and is also a keen runner and boulderer.

Treasurer, Jean Aldred

Jean is the Treasurer of the Capital Concert Band in Edinburgh and supports many other charities with her financial knowledge. She is a Chartered Banker and has been an ardent amateur musician for many years playing clarinet and saxophone. She has a partnership in a music publishing company.

Librarian, Riona Bell

Our librarian is Riona Bell.  Her lifelong interest in music started with playing clarinet in school and county youth orchestras, followed by various other classical groups. She later branched out to tenor saxophone and joined the Capital Concert Band in 2012 where she enjoys the musical variety and camaraderie. Since retiring from full time work, she has been happy to take on the organisation of the band’s extensive library of music.

Band Representative, Kat Annand

Kat is one of our tuba players, is the band social convener and has been on the Committee since 2020. Kat has played the tuba since she was 7 and also enjoys playing the bagpipes, smallpipes and piano. Kat is also a keen nature and outdoors enthusiast and spends a lot of time in the outdoors, away in her campervan, hiking or birdwatching.

Originally from the United States, Clay joined the band in 2016 as a way to get back into playing the French Horn after a 10 year sabbatical.

Blows/breathes into an alto-saxophone most Thursday evenings and tries when possible to make our set-piece Leith Mills gigs.  Eternally grateful for all the work our committee members do that make the band tick! 

Conductor Emeritus: Kevin G. Lamb

We were privileged to have Kevin Lamb as our Musical Director for 20 years until his retirement in December 2024.  A distinguished musician who has numerous recordings and broadcasts to his credit as a composer, arranger, producer and conductor of both Wind Bands and Brass Bands. His professional career as a musician in the British Army has included posts as Bandmaster of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders; Director of Music of The REME Band; and Head of School and Chief Instructor of the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. Kevin has presented masterclasses and lectured on Music Education, Conducting and Arranging at universities and colleges throughout the UK and abroad.
